The residents of Ibadan North Local Government were thrilled yesterday and commended Governor Makinde as they received palliative packages in various wards across  Ibadan North Local Government metropolises.

Eaglessightnews recalls that the Safer Packages is part of the measure to cushion the effects of subsidy removal as promised by the state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.

Recall that Governor Makinde and the assigned coordinators of the safer project officially flagged off the Palliatives project last week Wednesday.

Earlier on Monday the distribution of the safer package was flagged off in the Local Government after The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local, Hon Waheed Akanbi 'Biro' in line with the directive of the state government had a stakeholder meeting with HLA, Representatives of Traditional Rulers, Director of Education Services, Representatives of Christian Faith, Muslim Community and Isese adherents, Representative of Pensioners, Representative of Market Leaders, Representative of Security Institution and Representative of Youth Organisations for proper monitoring of the exercise.

The Executive Chairman, Hon Waheed during the brief meeting explained that Governor Makinde in his kind-hearted and fairness instructed the committee to be constituted so that the exercise would be properly coordinated and monitored.

Reacting to the development, the religious leaders, traditional rulers, and various groups well represented in the local government commended the palliatives exercise, adding that Makinde has done well to include them in the exercise and described the idea as exceptional.

The food relief packages which contained a bag of 10kg rice, 5kg bag of beans, 5kg bag of yam flour, and 1kg bottle of vegetable oil have earlier been stated by the government to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal on the residents.

The first phase of the exercise which started yesterday and lasted today has however received huge thumb-ups from the residents of Ibadan North Local Government. Eaglessightnews correspondents reported.

Reacting and commending the exercise, some of the residents of Ibadan North Local Government including less-privileges, old people, disabled, widows, orphans, and others who received the food relief packages across all wards in the LG have expressed their profound appreciation to the state governor for keeping to promise, adding that Makinde Safer Packages will at least mitigate the effects subsidy removal have been having on them.

Meanwhile, there were other reports of commotion in some wards within the LG where the palliatives were distributed. The major local government areas affected were Wards 1, 4 and 11. The situations however were controlled and the package got to the targeted people as planned by the state government.

The commotion, according to a report gathered by Eaglessightnews correspondence was caused by impatience and several attempts by some residents in the Local Government to hijack the exercise for their selfish reasons.

Reacting to the incident, the Executive Chairman of the Ibadan North Local Government Hon Waheed Akanbi'Biro' has implored the residents to be more patient  to allow free and fair supervision of the exercise, adding that  the  palliatives are in phases and assured  that it will get to the targeted members of the community as planned by the state government
