Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan North Constituency 1 candidacy; Facts that should be stated.

Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan North Constituency 1 candidacy; Facts that should be stated.

The media team of Oyo State House of Assembly Candidate for Ibadan North Constituency1, Hon(Dr) Olufunke COMFORTER AdeniyI Olajide has responded to the recent viral news causing tension and confusion on the authentic  mandate owner of the constituency during primary.

As contained in a statement forwarded to Eaglessightnews, the statement reads:

"Can two persons emerge as candidates for the same position from the same constituency?

"Won't a house divided against itself fall?

"Are we going to keep fighting ourselves and allow outsiders make mockery of us and capitalize on our weaknesses?

"Should we be arguing on a matter that is clear?

"Is the intention not to serve?

"Is there anything wrong with women inclusion?

"Is it fair to all concerned for an individual to be a serving honorable, made the DG for the Governor's campaign in the Local government and still continue to pose himself as a candidate eligible to contest in the general elections?

"Isn't this act against the law; Misrepresentation to the general public as a candidate in the race to be voted for without having the party's certificate of return and knowing that another candidate has it?

"Having supporters ready to cause mayhem; holding weapons visibly at a visitation of State Excos to the Local government

"In all of these, the chosen candidate, Honourable Olufunke Comforter, remains unmoved, and unshakable. The party has spoken, and the people have shown their unwavering support for the woman with a golden heart and she in turn will continue to tow the path of peace till victory is assured for the party in the general elections at all levels."

Ayu Must Go: Oyo PDP Throws Weight Behind Makinde,Wike On Ayu's Resignation, Cautions SW PDP Over Statement, Knocks APC

Ayu Must Go: Oyo PDP Throws Weight Behind Makinde,Wike On Ayu's Resignation, Cautions SW PDP Over Statement, Knocks APC

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has berated its counterparts in some southwest state chapters over press statements from them casting aspersions on Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the leader of the party in the entire region being the only serving Governor on the platform of the party.

The ruling party in Oyo state wondered what PDP in the other concerned southwest states was doing to checkmate the obvious excesses and misgovernance of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their various states despite the ineptitude and undeniable failure on the part of the government in the concerned states.

The Oyo state PDP was reacting to different press statements released by Osun, Ogun, and Ondo state chapters of the party reaffirming their support to the anomaly being against the south that is being challenged.

The party also took a swipe at the opposition party, the APC in Oyo state over a statement credited to it alleging Governor Makinde of underperformance saying, Oyo APC lacks every atom of political dignity and honor to shamelessly try to insult the collective sensibility of all sons and daughters of Oyo state that APC government either sent to their early graves subjected to torturous and horrendous experience between 2011 and 2019.

This was as the Oyo state PDP described the APC in the state as a group of people on an inevitably drowning ship on a voyage trying to talk down a captain of a high-flying airplane just to create a distraction that would give the drowning ship justifiable excuses for its self-destruction.

A statement by the PDP in Oyo state and made available to newsmen on September 23 by its State Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji cautioned the APC against making further mockery of itself in trying to play opposition party saying "the APC failed as a ruling party in Oyo state, now they're even terrible as an opposition party, we expected robust engagements and constructive criticism not noise making and seeking attention like a baby crying over spilled milk."

The ruling party in the state described as shocking and appalling, various statements credited to other southwest state chapters of the party against Makinde's insistence in line with other southern leaders of PDP on the resignation of the national chairman, Iyiochia Ayu.

The party maintained that the demand for the resignation of Ayu was in tandem with everything the party seeks to translate into governance when its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar eventually wins the 2023 election stressing that Governors Makinde, Wike, and other national leaders on the course should be celebrated as heroes of a new national rebirth in the life of PDP.

"We are all one big family and when there's such a large family there are bound to be issues like this but we must always endeavor to thread with caution, especially when dabbling into matters outside of our immediate purview. It is a very sensitive and delicate national matter and our national leaders are having sleepless nights trying to resolve it already so, it was shocking to see such reactions coming from our party in other southwest states.

"This is particularly embarrassing because Governor Makinde is not only the leader of our great party in the state but in entire southwest Nigeria as we speak today being the highest ranking elected office holder in the region as the only serving Governor.

"PDP in Osun, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti especially, must focus their energy and might on stamping their feet on the ground and be ready to fully secure their states for PDP come 2023 instead dissipating energies on a course that's already being handled and managed by our national leaders and avoid being used by few who may be working for personal gains moreso, that political campaign lurks around the corner with campaign funds ready for disbursement.

"It was on record that the national chairman enjoyed the full support of Governors Wike, Makinde and other national leaders to emerge the party's National Chairman on the strength of his (Ayu's) promise to step aside for a caretaker chairman from the south in the event the party's presidential candidate emerges from the north.

"Having produced Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from Adamawa (North) as our presidential candidate, we're still bewildered in Oyo state and wondering what has changed that such a simple promise could not be kept such that the situation was allowed to fester and escalate.

"Seeing how the APC has failed making Nigerians impatient for 2023 to arrive for them to send the ruling party away from existence, the coming presidential election is obviously up for the PDP to grab. It is, therefore, safe to say the 2023 presidential election is a 'PDP vs itself' contest urging PDP in the southwest states to focus their gaze beyond immediate political gains but on the future of the party and the sustenance of the core values of its founding fathers which emphasized and entrenched the principle of fairness and even distribution of national offices across all the geopolitical zones of the federation." The Oyo state PDP said.

While cautioning Oyo state chapter of APC from meddling in its internal affairs, the PDP also warned the opposition party to first make itself competitive in the forthcoming election before dabbling into PDP's internal affairs while abandoning the humongous problems that have kept the opposition party perpetually polarized with over 20 different factions within one party.

"We ordinarily should not have bothered giving life to their dying voice as a party but we owe the good people of Oyo state the duty of protection from false propaganda, deliberate misinformation and political desperados in Oyo APC lest the unsuspecting members of the public mistake their repeatedly and consistently told lies to be true because that is their hallmark as a political party.

"For the avoidance of doubt, Makinde's record in just three years in office is there in public. His unprecedented achievements in three years far surpass everything APC government achieved in their entire eight years and we can not but empathize with them on their traumatic experience after being disgraced out of office after 8 interrupted years of nothing but monumental failure in every single sector of the state's economy."

Barr. Bayo Lawal: Product of Governor Makinde's Political Fairway|Otunba Yomi Ojo

The Acting Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Chief Bayo Lawal esq is one of the  defined product of the overwhelming beauty of GSM's style of Governance. He is part of the bouquet of success story that the opposition have somewhat found difficult to fathom.

A sound addition to the track record of the present administration and of course,a strategy that will manifest into victory in the 2023 general elections.

His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde made history in the Southwest political journey when he transferred power to his Deputy Chief Bayo Lawal, esq without spring attached or limitations to the utilisation of political power, this has not happened before in the history of Oyo State since 1999.

Before his appointment, track record of the Deputy Governor as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state during late Governor Lamidi Adesina's administration and his erstwhile achievements as Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation shows that he is a man of the people,  loyal, competent, and dedicated. Little wonder, Governor Makinde did not doubt his administrative prowess to sail the ship of the State without hitches while he is away on vacation.

Political gatekeepers have now established the fact that with  Chief Bayo Lawal esq as the Deputy Governor, Acting Governor and Running Mate coupled with massive achievements and economic growth achieved by the state Governor, Governor Makinde has successfully changed the narratives especially in Oke - Ogun with regards to the political calculations for victory in the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Recent moves have resolved many political crises in Oke Ogun zone and other geopolitical zones in the State. Feedback within the Oke-Ogun axis shows that traditional leaders, religious and political leaders as well as entire citizens from the food basket of the State are elated about the appointment of the legal luminary and the son of soil as the Deputy Government and Acting Governor.

The oppositions in the zone are presently in disarray. Their laid down political calculation have been hit and they are presently searching for what next is to be done. Let the record be put straight, the appointment of Barr. Bayo Lawal esq is now a rallying point for the unity of political gladiators and gatekeepers which will definitely translate into well defined victory for PDP come year 2023.

With this development and the continued support of the people of the zone and collective support from other zones PDP will record massive victory in the State in 2023 election.

HISTORY IS MADE IN OYO STATE |YOMI OJO

HISTORY IS MADE IN OYO STATE

1999  ushered in an enduring Democracy in Nigeria after years of Military rule,
Oyo state has been under the Civil rule of different politicians from the geopolitical zones of the state.
The State has witnessed uncertainties associated with an unstable political environment which reduced the pace of economic development.
The two major parties being in conflicting positions disrupt the stability of the Country.

Tracing down memory lane, the state Civil Servants and Pensioners had shared in lack of leadership focus bore out of parochial interest rather than the development of the State. This has hurt the economy of the State where the welfare of Civil servants and Pensioners became taboo and traditional institutions were relegated to the background.

We could recall how the good people of the state lost their means of livelihood to the bad policies of the past administration. Legitimate properties and businesses of the citizens were destroyed by the bad policies of the then government in power.

The political gladiators in the state believed that Gov. Seyi Makinde's administration compared to the immediate past government has set a standard for peoples' friendly policies, and leadership based on tenets of Democracy and constitutionalism which has resulted in all-round growth and development in d six geopolitical zones.

Massive and gigantic infrastructural projects have increased the productive capacity of the State in terms of agricultural development, Educational advancement, and integration of urban and rural activities through a good road network in just 3 years. Oyo has become the haven of investors.

Oyo State has also grown beyond being a State for politicians without a second address or politicians that lack economic direction and brazen disregard for rule of law.

Recently, a sociopolitical group stated that  Engr. Seyi Makinde needs another four years to complete his developmental drives in the state, especially the completion of the  75km Ibadan circular road, 76.67km Ogbomoso-Iseyin road, 34.85km Oyo-Iseyin road, 58km Omi Adio- Ido- Eruwa road, 46km Saki -Ogbooro- Igboho road, 38km rehabilitation of Igbora- Igangan- Iganna road and other ongoing projects in the state.

The group reminds the good people of the state, that the price of construction of these roads is 152 million naira per kilometer under the present government compared to 1 billion naira by the past administration, which shows that the government of PDP under Engr Seyi Makinde is prudent, accountable and transparent.

Conclusively, the writer hereby advises the good people of the state to continue to support the present government under Engr. Oluseyi Makinde and not allow APC or other political party mislead them in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

It is important to emphasize that Citizens make use of their PVC and resolve never to go back to the dark ages of APC mal-administration in the state.

God bless our dear Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
