PMS Leadership in Oyo State: Evidence of Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

PMS Leadership in Oyo State: Evidence of Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

A clear vision backed by definite plans gives a tremendous feeling of confidence. When Governor Seyi Makinde administration came up with the idea of Park Management System (PMS), some clowns disguised as the opposition called it audio initiative but for the first time in the history of Nigeria the PMS is proving to be one of the smartest ways for IGR.

Governor Seyi Makinde's administration is bringing the future of the state into the present, the way and manner Oyo governor made organisation of thoughts into ideas and plans are highly significant in Nigeria. It is evident that good transformation of those ideas into reality is showing in Oyo State.

PMS which is the acronym for the Oyo State Park Management System was initiated by Governor Makinde in Nigeria, towards the end of his first tenure of office, Governor Makinde assured Oyo State residents that his administration is set to improve transportation to meet up with the international standard.

The reality about transportation is that it is future-oriented. If we are planning for what we have, we are behind the curve and this is one of the reasons why Governor Seyi Makinde wants the future of the transport sector in the state to have a new touch.

When the Park Management System (PMS) was launched in Oyo State early in 2020, not many were willing to believe in the idea. Today, the PMS idea has become a toast of many states. Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo states have fully launched their versions of PMS, a clear vindication of Makinde as the man who saw tomorrow, as far as the management of the parks is concerned.

With the new leadership of PMS in Oyo State, headed by a gentle giant, Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa fondly called Tommy. It is the responsibility of his leadership to put a monitoring system in place, analyze the data that is being generated during the implementation and make any necessary changes to make the implementation more efficient. Omolewa has set benchmarks as well as key performance indicators that will enable him to operate effectively in the office.

The new park management committee in Oyo State has Baba Bola as secretary, and also includes Alhaji Tajudeen Jimoh, Deputy Chairman; Kamoru Idowu Owo Gesi , Oyo RTEAN Chairman as Treasurer; Tirimisiyu Olowoposi, Financial Secretary; Abass Amolese, Organising Secretary; and Alhaji Hamidu Mustapha Were, Auditor, with Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe, First Vice Chairman; Ganiyu Mojeed, First Trustee; Alhaji Musa Alubankudi, Second Trustee, Alhaji Rahman Akinsola Tokyo, Second Auditor; and Al Haj Emiola Abiola, Public Relations Officer.

These are men of experience in their chosen field, we now have a well-regulated system with chairmen, and unit heads who acted and controlled the activities of what goes on at the parks, and there is less violence in our parks with rules and regulations.

Any businessman will tell you that transportation is fundamental to success.
Kudos should be given to the Governor of Oyo State for having a good vision towards this sector, bearing in mind that modern terminals around the city have already made the state a beautiful outlook, provided jobs, solve the problem of insecurity, and boost the IGR of the state.

Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa-led committee has had a significant impact on the strategic management process of our parks, his experience will help him to determine the vision and mission of the park management system, and he will also use his wisdom to facilitate the committee members to execute effective strategies to achieve that vision.

While their activities are being monitored by the state government, the committee is also set to be a collaborator, risk manager, change driver, and decision maker, the government will be guide, change enabler, and evaluator.

It is evident that the new leadership of PMS under Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa is a body of responsible and law-abiding individuals committed to maintaining peace and order, residents of the state have also shown gratitude to Governor Makinde for fulfilling his promise on the leadership of PMS in Oyo State.

With the emergence of the new committee for the park management system, the IGR of the state will be improved, also there is full integration and interest protection among members of the transport union which has enhanced the customer/commuters journey with the provision of the unified procedure.

This new committee focuses on sound inspiration, creating sustainable and inclusive growth, featuring collaborative networks of self-managing teams that operate in rapid cycles and focus on creating value for the stakeholders.

Moving from an era of individual leaders to an era of networked leadership teams that will steer the PMS as Governor Seyi Makinde suggested that a high-performing leadership team will always outperform the capabilities of individuals. This new committee under the leadership of Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa has a clear purpose and focus, to benefit all stakeholders by enabling people to work and learn together to build and operate a continually evolving system that will create value for the good people of Oyo State.

2023: BE HUMANE, CAUTIOUS AND TACTICAL IN YOUR APPROACHES DURING CAMPAIGNS~GROUP ADMONISHES POLITICAL PARTIES |OYO HINTS

IBADAN YOUTH INDIGENES WARN POLITICIANS, POLITICAL PARTIES TO BE MODERATE AND HUMANE DURING POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS AND ADMONISH YOUTHS  NATIONWIDE TO BE CAUTIOUS AND TACTICAL IN THEIR APPROACH TO POLITICS AS 2023 ELECTION APPROACHES

In preparation for the 2023 general elections, and as the Independent  Electoral Commission (INEC) on the 28th September 2022 lifted ban on campaign activities of political parties, we , the Integrity Youths of Ibadanland popularly known as Ibadan Youth Indigenes (I.Y.I) has a matter urgency on this day 5th October, 2022 brings the  below notes forward  to the general public to serve as warning and cautions to all politicians and political parties across board and admonishes , encourages youths  nationwide on politics.

IYI , is a  non - partisan political youth organisation that has been for years, concerned and committed to the advocacy for good governance at all levels in Nigeria, and which exists primarily  to pursue, promote and protect the interest of Ibadan indigenes in all ramifications. With an open mind for free and fair elections come 2023, we strongly want to state in clear terms the following to politicians and political parties alongside their loyalists ahead of 2023 general elections as follows  ;

(A) That  all politicians and  political parties  should  as matter of urgency and necessity  endeavour to  work strictly in line with  the documents  jointly signed by political parties leaders recently in Abuja through  the  National Peace Committee  under the Chairmanship of the former president, General  AbdulSalami . A. Abubakar ;

(B) That  all political  parties' leaders and stalwarts in the  36 states and 774 local governments should  be held responsible  if any of  these agreement made in  the document is breached  , in this wise they should all caution  their respective  loyalists  to be moderate during and after the campaigns for  the election  of President  , the National Assembly  Members and State Houses of  Assembly  in the year 2023 ;

(C) That political parties and their candidates  should  come to the  campaign grounds or rallies  with issue - based manifestoes  on veritable  solutions to  bring  our Nation out of this convoluted conundrums or quagmire we have found ourselves ;

(D) That at I.Y.I, we believe  that  our great city, Ibadan , the capital of Oyo State can not singularly develop because of constitutional and domineering powers of the central government without the development of the whole that is why we always  talk about good governance at all levels, in this wise , we are of the opinion that any political scene that affects Ibadan  can probably  affect  the South  West Nigeria and later degenerate to the whole country. We use this medium to call on all politicians and political parties to specially be cautioned, moderate , and humane while campaigning  in Oyo state and particularly, the city of Ibadan.  And that they should all see politics as " A Game of Development " not " A Do or Die Affair " .

(E) That all youth  nationwide , should  rise up this time  for real politics, and they should  be tactical and diplomatical in their approach to politics; that they should  not in any way be allowed to be used as "DESTRUCTIVE TOOLS"  to  the development of our Nation.

(F) That the general  public should  at this time be ready  to question political parties and their  candidates on issues that will bring unprecedented development for our society.
(G) That the only issue that should  bother every patriotic Nigerian ( the electorates) , is the election of good nationalist as the president of Nigeria and God- fearing  and competent  Senators , Honourable  Members of House of Representatives  and  Honourable  of Houses of Assembly in the 36 - states and  Federal Capital, Abuja , irrespective  of his /her religion;

(H) That the forthcoming election should be a great  means for all and sundry to kick-out bad governance that has caused us gross insecurity, unemployment, over - dependence on imports, perenial inflation,  devaluation of Naira, fraud , corruption, Gross National Debt , over dependence on oil , terrorism, ethnic divisions, extreme poverty, uncivilized cultural  practice among others.

(I) That IYI wish to reiterate and  is of the opinion  that for us to achieve good governance in real sense of it, the 1999 constitution, foisted on Nigerians by the Military should be discarded outrightly because  , this is no longer in tune with realities of the present day Nigeria and that presumably, if this 1999 Constitution still produce another crop of leaders  for the Nation in the year 2023 and  after , this will end up in producing transactional and recycled leaders or call it dealers, with no ability  to things around for Nigeria and Nigerians.

( J) Lastly , that we IYI pray to God , the Almighty to guide our leaders aright and pray for successful and bloodshedless in the year 2023 general  elections. Amin.

Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan North Constituency 1 candidacy; Facts that should be stated.

Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan North Constituency 1 candidacy; Facts that should be stated.

The media team of Oyo State House of Assembly Candidate for Ibadan North Constituency1, Hon(Dr) Olufunke COMFORTER AdeniyI Olajide has responded to the recent viral news causing tension and confusion on the authentic  mandate owner of the constituency during primary.

As contained in a statement forwarded to Eaglessightnews, the statement reads:

"Can two persons emerge as candidates for the same position from the same constituency?

"Won't a house divided against itself fall?

"Are we going to keep fighting ourselves and allow outsiders make mockery of us and capitalize on our weaknesses?

"Should we be arguing on a matter that is clear?

"Is the intention not to serve?

"Is there anything wrong with women inclusion?

"Is it fair to all concerned for an individual to be a serving honorable, made the DG for the Governor's campaign in the Local government and still continue to pose himself as a candidate eligible to contest in the general elections?

"Isn't this act against the law; Misrepresentation to the general public as a candidate in the race to be voted for without having the party's certificate of return and knowing that another candidate has it?

"Having supporters ready to cause mayhem; holding weapons visibly at a visitation of State Excos to the Local government

"In all of these, the chosen candidate, Honourable Olufunke Comforter, remains unmoved, and unshakable. The party has spoken, and the people have shown their unwavering support for the woman with a golden heart and she in turn will continue to tow the path of peace till victory is assured for the party in the general elections at all levels."

Ayu Must Go: Oyo PDP Throws Weight Behind Makinde,Wike On Ayu's Resignation, Cautions SW PDP Over Statement, Knocks APC

Ayu Must Go: Oyo PDP Throws Weight Behind Makinde,Wike On Ayu's Resignation, Cautions SW PDP Over Statement, Knocks APC

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has berated its counterparts in some southwest state chapters over press statements from them casting aspersions on Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the leader of the party in the entire region being the only serving Governor on the platform of the party.

The ruling party in Oyo state wondered what PDP in the other concerned southwest states was doing to checkmate the obvious excesses and misgovernance of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their various states despite the ineptitude and undeniable failure on the part of the government in the concerned states.

The Oyo state PDP was reacting to different press statements released by Osun, Ogun, and Ondo state chapters of the party reaffirming their support to the anomaly being against the south that is being challenged.

The party also took a swipe at the opposition party, the APC in Oyo state over a statement credited to it alleging Governor Makinde of underperformance saying, Oyo APC lacks every atom of political dignity and honor to shamelessly try to insult the collective sensibility of all sons and daughters of Oyo state that APC government either sent to their early graves subjected to torturous and horrendous experience between 2011 and 2019.

This was as the Oyo state PDP described the APC in the state as a group of people on an inevitably drowning ship on a voyage trying to talk down a captain of a high-flying airplane just to create a distraction that would give the drowning ship justifiable excuses for its self-destruction.

A statement by the PDP in Oyo state and made available to newsmen on September 23 by its State Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji cautioned the APC against making further mockery of itself in trying to play opposition party saying "the APC failed as a ruling party in Oyo state, now they're even terrible as an opposition party, we expected robust engagements and constructive criticism not noise making and seeking attention like a baby crying over spilled milk."

The ruling party in the state described as shocking and appalling, various statements credited to other southwest state chapters of the party against Makinde's insistence in line with other southern leaders of PDP on the resignation of the national chairman, Iyiochia Ayu.

The party maintained that the demand for the resignation of Ayu was in tandem with everything the party seeks to translate into governance when its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar eventually wins the 2023 election stressing that Governors Makinde, Wike, and other national leaders on the course should be celebrated as heroes of a new national rebirth in the life of PDP.

"We are all one big family and when there's such a large family there are bound to be issues like this but we must always endeavor to thread with caution, especially when dabbling into matters outside of our immediate purview. It is a very sensitive and delicate national matter and our national leaders are having sleepless nights trying to resolve it already so, it was shocking to see such reactions coming from our party in other southwest states.

"This is particularly embarrassing because Governor Makinde is not only the leader of our great party in the state but in entire southwest Nigeria as we speak today being the highest ranking elected office holder in the region as the only serving Governor.

"PDP in Osun, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti especially, must focus their energy and might on stamping their feet on the ground and be ready to fully secure their states for PDP come 2023 instead dissipating energies on a course that's already being handled and managed by our national leaders and avoid being used by few who may be working for personal gains moreso, that political campaign lurks around the corner with campaign funds ready for disbursement.

"It was on record that the national chairman enjoyed the full support of Governors Wike, Makinde and other national leaders to emerge the party's National Chairman on the strength of his (Ayu's) promise to step aside for a caretaker chairman from the south in the event the party's presidential candidate emerges from the north.

"Having produced Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from Adamawa (North) as our presidential candidate, we're still bewildered in Oyo state and wondering what has changed that such a simple promise could not be kept such that the situation was allowed to fester and escalate.

"Seeing how the APC has failed making Nigerians impatient for 2023 to arrive for them to send the ruling party away from existence, the coming presidential election is obviously up for the PDP to grab. It is, therefore, safe to say the 2023 presidential election is a 'PDP vs itself' contest urging PDP in the southwest states to focus their gaze beyond immediate political gains but on the future of the party and the sustenance of the core values of its founding fathers which emphasized and entrenched the principle of fairness and even distribution of national offices across all the geopolitical zones of the federation." The Oyo state PDP said.

While cautioning Oyo state chapter of APC from meddling in its internal affairs, the PDP also warned the opposition party to first make itself competitive in the forthcoming election before dabbling into PDP's internal affairs while abandoning the humongous problems that have kept the opposition party perpetually polarized with over 20 different factions within one party.

"We ordinarily should not have bothered giving life to their dying voice as a party but we owe the good people of Oyo state the duty of protection from false propaganda, deliberate misinformation and political desperados in Oyo APC lest the unsuspecting members of the public mistake their repeatedly and consistently told lies to be true because that is their hallmark as a political party.

"For the avoidance of doubt, Makinde's record in just three years in office is there in public. His unprecedented achievements in three years far surpass everything APC government achieved in their entire eight years and we can not but empathize with them on their traumatic experience after being disgraced out of office after 8 interrupted years of nothing but monumental failure in every single sector of the state's economy."
